I have decided to put up some of my original writing here. I know most people don't use dA for that kind of "art" but it's what I'm best at.
I'm still enjoying watching everyone's artwork though.

A woman in a flowered dress is saying things he can remember hearing before. But maybe it's only that she says them over and over. She deserves to have secrets and memories and a little shame, but now all she has is a dull look and a room with other pastless people. He is supposed to ask her the date and the weather, but she would only answer some questions only she could hear.

Cecelia was playing the song, pounding on the piano until her fingers hurt. She thought if she just kept playing louder and louder the days would keep on in their sameness and the men in the gray suits would not come this time.
Grandmother had told her once that the song had words, and had sung them for her. There was something about a stone, and something about the melting of ice. Cecelia wasn't certain what they meant, or how anyone had taught them to Grandmother.
The song, without its words, made her think of lying down on the grass and feeling it beneath her back as she looked up into the sky.
